Shot Duration (week 5)

For Her Slow Disappearance we are going to have a mix of durations for our shots. Sara shows many different emotions during the movie and it would not make sense to just have them all be longer clips and shorter clips. There are clips where she is in a rush but then there clips where she is dead. So, we have to have different durations.  In my week four raw foot blog post I have a clip of Sara laying in the shower dead. That is our opening scene. If you watch it you can see how it is a longer clip, we haven't decided whether to cut it up or not but that depends on how much time we have for the rest of the movie opening. The shorter clips are going to be when she is in the bathroom and when she is in the bedroom. We are creating a parallel with Sara's mom and Sara so it shows Sara's mom banging on the door and Sara trying to hurry up so her mom doesn't see the drugs on the counter so those are going to be short clips but a longer scene.

Movie Title (week 5)

Hello! Eva and I have been asking each other for a while if we wanted to change the title of our movie. We've been bouncing off ideas off each other for the past few days such as " Falling to Fast" " Before Morning" " Somewhere Else" and " Seventeen". We liked them but they just did not fit. So Since we did our midterm on the same genre and storyline we decided to use that name  "Her Slow Disappearance". This name fits our movie so well. I feel it tells the audience that it is going to be a drama but will still leave them wondering what the movie is going to be like. Our midterm really helped us with this project in so many different ways especially this one. Already having the name took off a little stress from our shoulders and will help us continue editing and moving along with this project.

Company Label (week 5)

Image
We finished filming! So we are a little ahead which is very much benefiting for us and the editing process. Right now I am working on our company label or the production label. I am using Canva to help me get the idea I have in my head across. This label will be used in our movie at the beginning or at the end we have not decided yet. I came up with the name of our label and just asked Canva to help me with the look of it. I asked it to make it more feminine but still give off the dark drama vibe. Here is my final product!

Time Lapse (week 4)

Image
While we were recording we made a time lapse to show our filming process and to create a more personal experience for the audience. Hope you enjoy!

Raw footage ( week 4)

Image
Here is some raw footage from film day!   I wanted to give a sneak peak to what our movie is going to be like. This footage shows the setting and the vibe of the movie!

Production (Week 4)

Pre & Post Film Video/Vlog             Eva and I started our filming yesterday we recorded us on the way to filming and we were discussing our plans. Then after filming we also made a video to show how everything went! We definitely had a hard time trying not to laugh but we thought we should include it to show our personalities  Here are the videos!

Script

Image
Here is the script I made for our movie opening. It goes in chronological order by scene. This is going to help us stay on track while filming and make sure we do not change up our plans.  Here is my rough draft that I did on paper: Here is the final copy:

Hair and Makeup (week 3)

Image
Saras hair and makeup are going to be more of a messy look. We really need to show off how the drugs are getting to her and this is going to really help us get that point across.  Hair - messy bun - looks like a rats nest on the top of her head because she does not care and has left it in for a few days - should look like this  Makeup - Eyes-  will be dark, heavy eyeliner, and we will enhance the dark circles around her eyes - Cheek bones- we are going to sculpt her face to make it look bony and like the drugs are making her lose face fat Bruises-  put the bruises all around her body

Outfit week 3

Image
The outfit Sara will be wearing is a hoodie and shorts to show her looking like she doesn't care about her appearance because she cares more about drugs. Here are the pieces of clothing she will be wearing.

Auditions week 3

Image
We had a few girls try out for the role of Sara but since i played her role in the midterm and it went very well and smooth we agreed to just have me play the role again. Here is a picture from my audition!

The Basketball Diaries (1995) Film Information Title: The Basketball Diaries Director: Scott Kalvert Distributor: New Line Cinema Starring: Leonardo DiCaprio Budget: $2.5 million Box Office: $2.4 million Movie Poster Camera The opening uses fast-paced tracking shots and handheld camera work during the basketball game. Low-angle shots make Jim look powerful and confident, showing his potential. Close-ups capture intensity and energy, while slow motion and stylized shots hint at instability and foreshadow his later struggles with addiction. Editing Quick cuts create excitement and reflect Jim’s youthful adrenaline. Sudden tonal shifts and fantasy imagery interrupt the realism, suggesting distorted perception and hinting at darker themes ahead. Sound Upbeat music and loud diegetic sounds (sneakers, bouncing ball) build energy. The dramatic shift in sound tone suggests that this confidence and excitement won’t last. Mise-en-Scène Bright gym lighting and basketball un...

Editing week 3

For our editing Eva and I are going to split this up. She will do the first half of the movie and I will do the second half. We have very specific cuts. The first part will be a glimpse of the future where she is laying down in the shower dead because of overdose. Then that will fade out and into the scene of Sara waking up. The cuts and the scene will be pretty quick to show her in a rush and how she wants to get the drugs fast. This will make the audience feel the way she is stressed and needs the drugs to start her day because without them she is a mess.

Story Board week 2

Image
Here is our story board that Eva made. This tells us exactly how everything is going to be layout for our movie introduction. We worked together to think out the scenes and the cuts.

Mood Board week 2

Image
Here is the mood board I created to show what we want our movie opening to be like. These characters like Jim Carol, Rue Bennet, Charlie, etc.

Opening Scene Analysis – Beautiful Boy (2018) Film Information Title: Beautiful Boy Director: Felix Van Groningen Cinematographer: Ruben Impens Production Companies: Plan B Entertainment ; Big Indie Pictures Distributor: Amazon Studios Budget: Approx. $25 million Box Office: Approx. $16 million worldwide Movie Poster Camera The opening begins with a medium close-up of David in a doctor’s office. The tight framing and shallow focus isolate him, showing his anxiety and emotional distress. Eye-level shots and minimal camera movement create realism. Flashbacks use softer focus, warmer lighting, and more fluid movement, contrasting past happiness with the serious present. Editing The film uses non-linear editing, cutting between the doctor’s office and childhood memories. This cross-cutting highlights the loss caused by addiction. The slow pacing and smooth transitions create a reflective, emotional tone rather than suspense. Sound Sound is subtle and realistic. Quiet d...

Lighting week 2

For the lighting of this film we will be going for low-key lighting. I feel that it places a very good effect on our movie opening. We are going to accomplish this by having the blinds on the windows in the house open and the lights off. In the scene when Sara wakes up we want the brighter lighting to hit one side of her face but not the other to show how she is sad that she ran out of drugs. This lighting will continue throughout the whole movie.

Planning week 1

Eva and I have been working to find where we are going to film. We figured that her house was going to be best. She has a good room which fits the vibe of the main character Sara. We have been working on the storyboard and planning out each scene. We have worked on the lighting because we want a darker more deep lighting. I am currently creating a mood board while Eva finishes up the story board.
